In 1989, NASA research found that indoor plants can scrub the air of cancer-causing compounds like formaldehyde and benzene. It can also filter the air from carbon monoxide. Based on this research, some scientists say house plants are effective natural air purifiers.
Twenty-nine years after the research was made, my interest in indoor plants started. It’s in 2018. That year, I had anxiety. I was in bad shape. But taking care of golden pothos helped me feel better.
Since then, I have become so interested in golden pothos. And I would like to share with you three amazing things about Golden Pothos:
1. Pothos requires minimum care.
Minimum care also means that it does not demand so much of my time.
I have pothos that lives in the water and the soil. For pothos that’s in the soil, I only water it once a week. Yes, just once a week! But its beauty is irresistible.
Pothos may need minimum care; yet, it can thrive beautifully.
2. Pothos filters toxins in the air
It helps clean the air of toxins such as benzene, formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer the first two – benzene and formaldehyde – are carcinogenic (cause cancer) to a certain amount and time of exposure.
It also removes carbon monoxide from the air. It is known that a certain degree of exposure to carbon monoxide can lead to headaches, fatigue, and nausea. And the process called photosynthesis, golden pothos – or plants in general – can remove these toxins from the air we breathe.
Having a golden pothos in your living space will ensure that the air you inhale is purified. And, to guarantee that you have enough oxygen and clean air to breathe while you sleep, you can consider putting this plant in your bedroom
3. Golden Pothos creates positive feelings
There have been a lot of studies about the positive impact of nature on human psychological well-being. Going for a walk in the park full of trees, staring at a natural landscape, or having plants can increase performance at work and reduce stress.
So, if you have a rough day or feeling stress, get beautiful golden pothos. It will make you feel better.
If you have plants, what help do you think you get from them?
